Placefiles
Placefiles are configured under Settings > NWS & NEXRAD Storm Tracker > Placefiles & Shapefiles.
The renderer supports common GRLevelX/GR2Analyst commands including icons, icon files, text, lines, polygons, objects, colors, fonts, refresh intervals, and dynamic feed URLs.
Some providers require a GRLevelX Placefile manager and may not return drawable objects to an ordinary HTTP request. A feed that returns only its header may therefore have no active objects or may require a specialized request.
Storm Cells
Storm Cells use MRMS ProbSevere information. Their appearance can change according to available probability and threat information. The Storm Map Key uses purple to identify Storm Cells.
Third-Party Data
The plugin uses or can display data/services from NWS, RainViewer, Iowa Environmental Mesonet, MRMS/ProbSevere sources, OpenStreetMap, CARTO, Leaflet, Leaflet Control Geocoder, shpjs, Spotter Network, and GRLevelX-compatible Placefile providers. Provider availability, coverage, refresh rates, and terms are controlled by those providers.
Troubleshooting
Placefile says 0 objects
A Placefile may legitimately return only a header when there are no active objects. Some feeds also require a GRLevelX Placefile manager.
GLM Lightning is slow
Large GLM icon sets are rendered using a canvas-based approach to avoid creating thousands of individual HTML markers.
jQuery Migrate warnings
JQMIGRATE messages are WordPress compatibility warnings and are generally separate from the Storm Tracker Placefile diagnostics.
Safety Notice
For warnings and emergency decisions, use official National Weather Service information and local emergency-management instructions.
